I'm keeping my married name. It's easier to spell and pronounce, and I was advised by my son's psychologist that one parent changing their last name can cause stress in the younger kids who connect their last name with their identity as part of the family. I also figured it would be a huge headache to change the name on all of my ID, bank accounts, work, school, insurance, credit cards, taxes, etc etc etc. I do still sign my artwork with my maiden name, though. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't feel right to put anything else on it.

That said, if changing your name will help you emotionally, I don't think you should hesitate to do it. And for god's sake, quit saying crap like "I failed my marriage."
