Oh, OK, I see what you, and she, were saying now. I think it's a little easier for a parent to have the same last name as a child, but not that big of a deal in this day and age. I never assume that a parent has the same last name as a child. To make matters really confusing, I know a woman - a real hippie, Mother Earth type person (and really annoyingly so) - who has given her first name as a last name to her children - all 5 or 6 of them, last I checked. So her first name is Brooke, with her maiden name, and her kids' last name is Brooke. Eyes

Yes, it really isn't a big deal having a different last name from your children. The main "issue" I encountered on the kid end of things was people occasionally assumed my parents were divorced. Which is easy enough to do and not a big deal. It is probably true in most cases, anyways.
