When Liberty was younger she was so accident prone always getting hurt and requiring a vet.  We will never know how she did it (she was in 3 board fencing) but she degloved her front left.  There was nothing the vet could do but clean up the area of the wound.  We were left with a large area without skin (between her knee and fetlock) and there was a section that  had a flap of skin that the vet thought she would have to remove (it eventually reattached). The vet also thought we would have to do skin grafts.  We cleaned and bandaged it twice a day for months while we waited for the skin to grow and she was on stall rest.  We were diligent with her bandaging.  As she healed we used liquid vitamin E ( I swear by it).  We were lucky we never had any granulated tissue and she has minimal scaring not visible unless you are looking for it and literally only a few white hairs.  Luckily she is sound the vet said her scar tissue is very minimal and healed away from the tendons.  I have a picture of it in the healing stage but it is on my work computer and not on my lap top.   I know how hard it is and how disheartening.   Don't give up hope.

Your mare has a lovely kind eye.  Here is picture of my money pit a couple days ago! My daughter took it while we were standing around chatting. lol
