I would actually like to change my entire name to something not so generic though if I were divorced going back to my maiden name would alleviate some of that.

I chose to take my husband's name because I got tired of having to explain that no, I didn't care how you pronounced my last name because I don't even know how to correctly pronounce it myself (all my my grandfather's brothers pronounced it differently it's Slavic). As long as you don't add an "r" in the pronunciation (something strange a lot of people did) I'm good with it. Now, I'm more tired of such a boring, average name.
My maiden name is the 2nd most common name in America (Johnson). A very boring name.  So I was happy to take my DH's last name even though it means I have to regularly explain why it's spelled "Jung" when it's pronounced "Young." I've been a Jung longer than I was a Johnson,  didn't like my Johnson relations that much anyway, and so I can't see myself ever changing it back.
