I sold my old mare with a buyback - but it was a unique deal.

She was worth way more than I sold her at... provided the lady who bought her could successfully find a way to treat her allergy induced heaves. She was sold to the lady who had been part-boarding her for a year and she loves her as much as I do.

I honestly don't think she will ever sell. In the 6 years she has owned her, she has treated her heaves (expensive), treated her through a hairline fracture of her navicular bone (time-consuming recovery) and if she is never sound enough for hard arena work again she said "We'll take up trail riding, you said she really liked it when you had her!" She's willing to give up what she enjoys (arena work) to work within her limitations.

I think she also bought a shelter for her to she could stay at the boarding barn Maybe has been at pretty much her whole life, as she can't be out in the mare field anymore as she isn't allowed on a round bale. She loves the horse, and if she could no longer keep her, I know she'd want her to go to the only other person who loves the horse as much as she does... Me.

I 100% believe she would honour the buyback clause...
