In response to Enigma's question:
I only have one horse that I personally bought from someone, Ace, which is the same horse I'm selling. I bought him from someone who was basically a horse dealer. She'd buy trailers full of weanlings from a ranch out west, haul them back here to Ohio and sell them. Occasionally she would keep one for herself. While she did seem to actually care for the horses, her property left a lot to be desired, in the sense that she would have 6 or 7 weanlings in a tiny, muddy corral and that's where they stayed. At the time we went to pick up Ace, she had a stud that was living in a small round pen which, at time, was nothing but mud thick enough to cover his feet. So...yeah, the horses seemed to be fed well and all that, but I don't know if he'd be happy living there, so no, I wouldn't sell him back.
Diesel was bought by my mom from some people we knew through my trainer. If they'd ever want him back, I'd feel more than comfortable with that. That being said, they have a small breeding operation and don't ride themselves, so I doubt they'd want a gelding back.
Sadie was technically bred by me, using a stud owned by a small-time breeder. I have actually considered contacting him if I ever sold her because I did visit him/the stud before deciding to breed, and I liked what I saw of his place and the care of the horses.
