Just as an update RE the back/connective tissue fun in my house:

My Mum's MRI got diagnosed as her original slipped disc getting a lot worse, and also there being something up with her left shoulder, rather and second disc gone, as the Dr. feared. She is getting a steroid (+ something else) injection.

I asked her to enquire about the whole EDS/whatever thing while she was there, but the doctor said that, while she may have a connective tissue disorder which would explain a lot of her health issues, this wasn't included in that and was more likely caused by trauma. She did have a pretty heavy fall a few years ago now where she landed on her left arm and jarred her shoulder, so it's either that or a nasty nasty fall she took on XC a LONG time ago.
I still think it was probably trauma PLUS the presence of a connective tissue disorder which leaves you more prone to these kinds of injuries. Dr. doesn't exactly inspire great confidence in his expertise on the subject when the extent of his comment on EDS/connective tissue disorders is 'yes, I have heard of that, but no'.

I'm asking her to go back and push a little more on that at a later date. I'm a little pissed off that she was diagnosed as having spondylolisthesis years ago, along with scoliosis, but no Dr. seems to have ever explained what the condition was or what it does.

I don't want anyone to think I'm crazy for wanting a formal diagnosis, but no Dr. here seems pretty concerned about it. It's just something that gets occasionally mentioned. Personally, as it's something that can have serious affects in certain situations (e.g. pregnancy) I want it known about and I want it on record so it doesn't just get dismissed when I bring it up later.
