If someone is willing to put in some time with chores and learning about ground handling(horsemanship) they are showing the ranch owner or trainer that they are more committed than just a lesson and then leave.

They are really extending their lesson by working around the ranch and are adding to their experience.

Some people JUST want to ride and go home.

Some don't even want to groom or even get the horse and want it presented to them all tacked and ready to ride.

Now be nice.
I am a boader. I could keep my horses on property I own, but I choose not to.
I am ok with paying someone to do the chores I can't or don't like to do.
Seriously when it is -20 below who the fuck wants to chip ice out of buckets ?
That doesn't mean I am less committed about having horses or learning more.
It just means I have learned that chipping out buckets sucks and I am now in a financial position to pay someone else to do it.
Don't get me wrong here.
By the time I'm 90 or 100 I think I am going to be ready to pay someone to groom up my horse for me and maybe set me up in the saddle and then give me a good rub down after the ride...ha!
