I have an IR horse. He has near continuous access to grass hay via slow feeders and on a 1/2 pound a day of Tributes Essential K. His main symptoms were obesity, excessive urination & excessive H2O intake. I keep him on a dry lot and if I turn him out to graze its at night with a muzzle on or during a drought like we are having he can be muzzle free.

One thing to keep in mind is during temp fluctuations the sugar levels in grass tend to spike.

Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed. Ralph Waldo Emerson
