Triple Crown Lite is very good http://www.triplecrownfee...s-triple-crown-horsefood Ontario Dehy Timothy-Balance-Cubes is another very good product for IR horses that is low in NSC. It is a consistent, convenient, low in NSC feed made with premium grade Timothy hay, Beet Pulp (no molasses), and specific minerals and amino acids, specifically formulated for horses with Equine Cushing's Disease, Insulin Resistance, and other related conditions where a nutritious diet low in NSC is recommended. It is a soft crumbly type of cube (not choke-inducing at all) that my horse absolutely loved. http://www.ontariodehy.com/tab02-07.htm You should also feed flaxseed: http://www.omegafields.co...s/omega-horseshiner.html There are many supplements for IR. Make sure you get one with lots of magnesium, as well as some chromium. Finally, for treats (in moderation), you can feed these low NSC treats specially made for IR horses: http://stores.skodeshorse.../Carrot-Snips/Detail.bok and these: http://www.doversaddlery....&utm_campaign=googlefeed My horse loved both of those. I fought a year long losing battle against my 24 y.o. mare's worsening IR and chronic IR-induced laminitis. During the second bout of laminitis, all four feet began to founder. It was a losing battle, and I lost her 8 months ago. Why does your vet "suspect" IR??? He should "know" whether it's IR or not, via blood tests. Find out for sure. Don't guess. PM me if you need more information, as this is still a tender subject for me.
