BRad, I'm older than you are (I think) and I'm way not a conservative. If anything, I've refined my liberal views into views that have plans with them, instead of just thoughtlessly spouting off whatever the liberal line of the moment is.

In this article you posted, I got as far as this sentence: "Are our prisons filled with young people or old people?"

Because the sentence totally ignores the fact that large segments of the prison population are indeed aging--maybe not "old" yet, but they are relentlessly getting there.

As for the who are you more afraid of in the dark, a group of teenagers or a group of old people..... anybody who sees a gang of people at night and pauses long enough to figure out how old they are is likely, in many urban areas, to get in major trouble regardless of the gang's age. Plus, "group of teenagers"="violent criminals" is bullshit. Every Saturday night, we have roving groups of teenagers right in my neighborhood. They stroll up and down the streets aimlessly, and they can be loud and pushy of each other. Most of them are black. However, every single one of them has just gotten out of the teenager programs run on Saturday night by the Seventh Day Adventist Church right around the corner from me, and no matter how much they're being loud and pushy of each other, when they see me or any other person, they say "Good evening," or "Hello," or "Nice night, isn't it?" Or something like that.

To add to the disconnect, there's an elderly woman on the next street who, day or night, goes after every teenager she sees, using her cane. She's mental.

So it's not age or race or clothing one should consider when seeing a group. It's behavior.

And you know that.
