1. not all big dogs die young as flippy said. We as a family have always had large breeds our current family dog is Penny she is a greyhound boxer cross classed by vet as large breed due to size and weight. She is 19 this year

2. My stepsister is the proud owner of Mavro a Bernese Mt dog. He is 6 months old and 65 pounds. They are beasts. Common issues are they have dicky tummies and will eat anything so have to be watched. Bad bad knees she signed a waiver with breeder that he will never be a running partner for her. Heart issues yes. However if the dog is well maintained , properly fed NEVER OVER FED always gets good workouts they will live a long happy life !!
Also interesting thing about this breed , there is always two personalities with them, either you get the " LOVE ME PLAY WITH ME !! LIFE ROCKS!!!" or you get the slightly emo version. No real in between with them lol

great breed so so so nice
