I used alfalfa cubes w/my horse jack and he's the hardest keeper I've ever seen. Worked like magic.

I'd always soak beet pulp a half hour, but it's been years since I used any, they might have different mixes of it now.

With Nickle, when he got older, he dropped a lot of weight one winter. I feed him black oil sunflower seeds and equine senior and he gained like mad. I started with a quarter cup of sunflower seeds each feeding, then worked up to a total of twe cups morning and two cups at night.
