Hey, I'm not picking on ya...

I'm just saying, jumping... maybe not the best idea.
Why not?  My mare loves to jump, so do I.  She's 16 this year, we only compete 2'-2'6" now because we are working on slowing her down.  She has always been very hot.  We don't just jump, but do lots of trail riding, dressage work, team sorting, fun clinics, just to name a few.  Both my horses are well-rounded and versatile (my gelding jumps but I do not jump him much at all, he likes to do it but is a really lovely dressage horse so we work on that, along with lots of trail riding, he loves an adventure).  I hadn't even shown in over 2 years until last weekend, and didn't start jumping again until a month or so before the show (with some jump lessons thrown in over the last couple years here and here).  It was a lot of ground poles work and a lot of dressage in between.  I am showing in a jumper derby in 2 weeks put on by the local pony club.. in the 18", non-judged division because I like to support the pony club and it will be a good chance to get my mare out and keep her calm when the fences will be so low.
