Sometimes non-veg people will purposefully make trouble just like idiotic people who don't understand food allergies. I feel kinda kindred to people who are veg because I have to read labels and ask "stupid" questions at restaurants which are sometimes met with stares of disbelief. I have also been at tables or gatherings where the veg people are treated very unkindly. I think this is due to them meeting one vegan/veg person who was an ass. But those exist anywhere in any group. That's not a fair assumption to be made IMO.

Also, I realize I am lucky to live in a place with many local farming operations that are ethical. I am lucky that we have stores that stock it (one is right across the road from where I live). Some people can't do this based on logistics. My parents would have to drive a long way to find ethical meat, for example. We live in a metro area but we have few stores that stock that stuff up here.

It's totally a class bias as well. Some people can't afford to be that choosey.
