I don't know what my goals were for 2012 but I probably didn't reach them. Marley has made progress but still needs lots of work. We did win our first ribbons this year in competitive trail so that was a plus. She has slowed down and is more balanced now. She has learned to stop solely off my seat and turn mostly off my leg. That is a big improvement. I have worked hard with my saddle club to add new events - we put on 2 trail challenges and a clinic - which everyone enjoyed quite a bit. I got my 8 year old daughter riding this year which I never thought would happen. She's been taking lessons since early fall - hunt seat. I took some lessons (also hunt seat - different instructor) this past summer.

For 2013: I don't know. I'd really like another horse to have goals with. LOL But for Marley: move her back to english (hunter under saddle), keep working on building her back end, get her moving better from back to front, train for and complete our first 25 mile endurance ride (this spring). Other horse related: keep my daughter riding! And put on another trail challenge for my saddle club. I am also hoping to put on a scavenger hunt and/or a poker ride and a couple of clinics. Just have to find people to help. Last year's helpers are burning out. We shall see.

Somewhere - behind the rider you've become, the long hours in the saddle,
the ribbons you didn't win, the falls you've taken, the tears you've cried,
and the horses you've given your heart to - is the little girl who fell in love
with the sport and never looked back. Ride for her.
