Well, we have our first snow.
Girls are doing well-ish.
We weighed Rook on the giant vet scale Dave got off craigslist a few months ago.
446.. so she is gaining. She is Bright and a little pushy. But takes everything in stride.
Easy to handle and was very good alone in the crossties for grooming.

Raven is another matter.
Her poor feet are just so sore. She is 4 legged lame.
No heat, digital pulse is good.
She weighed in at 352, she's lost more weight.
Raven was of course a lady in the cross ties alone and totally fine with just "standing" and being groomed.
Just a couple of treats and I was able to brush the forlock. I didnt try and touch her ears, just getting her use to the idea.
I was trying to brush out her tail and there were dead worms, bugs, poop, pee, dirt, leaves, hay... Oh god it was GROSS.
The rain rot/scaly skin was so bad she lost 3/4ths of her tail  least its "clean-ish". I used some dry shampoo and then sprayed it with leave in conditioner.
Her poop and general odor is so bad.
Rook smells dirty.. Raven smells... decayed.
They each got their own 16 oz container of live culture yogurt. (Vet approved the suggestion and amount.)
I almost lost an arm!! Holy Cow, they like it.

Oh! I did not get face butted today!! YAY!!
It's interesting watching Dave interact with them. He's not handy around a horse, but he trys. The mares are so forgiving to him.
Like today, in the cross ties Rook pooed and Dave got the shovel and just cleaned it up. She moved over for him.
No drama. Now yesterday when I did something similar, but more carefully, she freaked out.
They follow him like puppies.
He is getting very attached to them. He says they are "his size" minis.
He is taking it all in stride, even when we got the 1st of many vet bills today. He said: "$487 is that all? I thought it would be more."
I said: "Just wait, we got floats and xrays next week."
He said: "Well, they are worth it!"
Awwwweeee.

Moose will be visiting with the vet again too. Under all his fluff he is super skinny again. Lethargic. Moose is the one who roll while your leading him. Didn't even want to go into the indoor today. Just stood then next to me. Didn't want to run or play.
Really worried for Moose and Raven right now.
But, we will do the best we can to make sure everyone has what they need.
Good winter blankets are ordered for all 4 now.
Right now the girls have fleece under water proofed canvas.
The BO will break quarantine and put them in the foaling stall, which is a little separate if needed.
