   Yes, the Fjords are also registered after sending in DNA from the horse to be registered and Davis matching it against both sire and dam to see if they match. Only then do they register a horse, along with their microchip which is also on their papers.
If someone picks up a purebred, even registered Fjord from someone with no papers, Davis cannot check against every Fjord in their data base to see " who they are "

You have to give them a parents name to check against.
