I've just had to deal with Baron colicing twice in one week recently (he has ulcers, which, when irritated through stress, hurt something chronic for him) so I'll let you know how I dealt with it...

Yes, it sounds like Buddy is having a bout of colic. As he is passing droppings, its not an impaction, but probably a gas colic. In other words, he needs to fart, in a nutshell. You can call the vet out, and they will give him some mild painkillers and Buscopan (Im not sure if you get that in the States, Im in the UK) to settle the stomach.
If he isnt thrashing about manically (you'll KNOW if he is doing that) then you can probably cope with it yourself. I walk Baron... nothing stressful, but keep him moving. We stop often and I do let him go down and 'rest', the minute a stomach contraction comes and he tries to roll, I get him up and we continue walking. I know when I have chronic stomach pains, if I keep moving, it does help.
The last session Baron had, we were walking/resting for about an hour when as soon as the colic came about, it dissappeared.

With Buddy, just keep an eye on him for the time being, if he continues to go down, pawing the floor, try and kick his tummy, but he is still passing droppings and not it ALOT of stress (if he is, you will have to call the vet) I would start walking him... It works for me.
