I agree that he really needs to be encouraged to drink. Electroylytes are great!! Not very expensive, and are very beneficial... especially for old horses and horses who have to endure high temps.

I use the flavored kind. I don't care what brand. I put mine in the water trough, but you can also mix it with feed. When I first started adding mine to the water, I made sure to have some regular water available too just in case they refused to drink the electrolytes. I know this is against what the electros recommend, but I cannot afford for my horses to go off their water with the temps we have here. For the most part, they took to the electros right away and now suck them down quicker than plain water!

Another advantage is that if you ever take your horse somewhere and the water tastes funny, the elctros will mask that taste, so the horse won't go off their water.

Electrolytes are wonderful things!
