$50 is nothing. Even if I find Al's daddy I'd have to get DNA for her mom (even though I have 3 witnesses and pics of her being born). Her mom is buried in a 20 acre pasture along with 70 years worth of other farm animals. Its like $400 to have the DNA test done, so if I send in the wrong bones I have to do it again. No idea why its so expensive since UC Davis does all the tests and they only charge like $100 (I think less, its been a while since I checked prices. The $400 was what I was told by an AQHA rep). Plus, according to something I read on the AQHA site all AQHA horses are DNA typed after a certain date so that mare should already have DNA on file but she doesn't.

The stud I think is the dad is on file but I have to write the people who owned him at the time of the breeding to get a copy of the DNA file-AQHA won't provide a copy. For the $400 they will DNA test Al and compare the results to confirm or deny daddy-hood but then I'd still have to get the dam's DNA. Its a pain, I wish everything was on file like the hackneys and I could just send Al's stuff in and get a confirm/deny.
