Good point re: the donations, I hadn't thought of it like that. I want to clarify that my only issue wasn't with the money, it was with, as Spooks said, the unnecessary extending of his life. Is colitis not a permanent thing in horses as it is in humans? If so, he was never going to be pain free. And it seems like in every picture posted near the end, he was on his side with his feet wrapped. If his feet were that bad how was he to recover? If he couldn't even stand? That's kind of an important thing in horses. I just feel like he was left to suffer for too long, and IMO there is no excuse for that, no matter how much you love him and ESPECIALLY just to get more exposure.

I don't know, I'm just expressing my opinions. I'm not as good with words as most of you so cut me some slack (and I was tired when I posted last night and should have kept it non-opinionated and purely informational - sorry)

I think it all depends on the cause of the colitis? Not 100% on that. I was diagnosed with it several years ago, but mine was induced by stress (and haven't had an issue now in months). Which, his may have been too. I saw OSU just posted about it all - that he had been able to be kept comfortable up until these last 24-48 hours, when it seemed that he was becoming resistant to the pain meds. Just a very sad perfect storm of things. I'm not a vet, so I won't speculate further. In the end, I guess I can say that I personally feel that FP's only sin was hope. He had his ups and downs, and it's easy to say "he's doing better today, we're doing the right thing!" At least they did do the right thing when OSU told them that there was no hope of keeping him comfortable. No, not perfect. I will admit he was in some level of pain and discomfort. Would it have been worth it if, by some miracle, he turned around and recovered fully? If I was in those shoes, sure. Problem is, we don't know the future, so we hope. Sometimes, a little too much. FP went above and beyond what I think a lot of people would have done, and they have their own reasons. I don't hold it against them.
