I don't own a horse (can't afford it) - that many of you seem to spend less than $5k annually boggles my mind. Around here (New England), you're lucky to find a low-end boarding place for any less than $400/mo., and that's already $4800 a year. Add on to it vet, farrier, supplements... maybe fees for things like blanketing, if you can't do it yourself... it adds up really, really fast.

Do those of you paying (comparably) so little primarily keep your horses at home, or on field board, or....?
