Im definately not chasing her, more walking toward her, if she offers to stop, I stop. If she walks away I walk with her in a purposeful manner. As soon as she looks at me , I let off, as soon as she slows, I slow. If she stops I stop, take my focus off her, tilt my shoulder away and sigh. My logic is that I am giving her the option to keep walking or to let me catch her, the easiest option being letting me catch her.

Licking and chewing is not necessarily a horse thats been run into the ground, my warmblood does it within 2-3 mins of ground work, and hes definately not tired or thirsty.

If I go into her paddock, she watches me approach, but If I get within 2-3 metres she legs it. Ignoring her and pulling weeds is fine by her, she can keep on eating then. Ill even dig at the dirt to see if shes curious, but usually shes staring the opposite direction ignoring me. If I pull weeds long enough she just walks off.

Part of the problem is that I have her yarded in a small grass yard during the night and only in the paddock during the day to help manage her weight, so I am the big meanie locking her up, I am feeding her a small feed once she is caught and in her yard. I really dont want to bribe her during the catching itself though.
