WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — Most of the damage from Sunday’s severe weather was from straight-line winds. However, officials with the National Weather Service confirm that damage in Muskegon and Newaygo Counties was consistent with a weak tornado. The damage extended into Mecosta and Isabella Counties as well. The tornado produced EF-0 damage, with winds estimated between 65 and 75 miles per hour. The width of the storm was just 100 yards. There was a tornado warning in effect during the time of the 2:45pm EST touchdown.
The National Weather Service also confirmed that the damage in Mattawan (Van Buren County) was consistent with straight-line wind damage. Maximum winds were near 75 miles per hour.
