It is very important to get into the eye of the horse and get them seeking you with their eye.

Position yourself in a place where they can not fully see you and have to bend to get a good look.

This is the foundation of the horse acknowledging you and facing you.

It is all about your position.

Practice this until your animal presents their side or quarter to you or fully faces you as each horse is a bit different.

After this is coming along better you can throw in some very light advance and retreat movement to build a "draw" toward the horse.

Horses are incredibly curious creatures and you are building on that with your body position.

A stall or pasture mate will either be very good or very bad as some will take their new friend and try and keep them from you.
