Spooks, your walk down method suggested is very similar to my first choice, however I hadnt thought to add a verbal command etc. I have been teaching her "whoa" while leading as she can be towey and it is a good thing for her to have when dealing with kids.
She is grazing alone currently (will change on sunday when her friend comes) and I walked her down in a 3 acre field (good exercise for me). She gets a feed once I have caught her. I only feed her from a bucket as I cant afford to have her nippy from hand feeding.
Ill see how it goes over the next few days, after her initial walk down two days ago, she has been much better so perhaps we are heading in the right direction.
