Hunt seat is just a way to say "english" in stock horse terms, Spooks.

I used to have a larger pair of old dress boots that were hand-me-downs that I basically got from my trainer's daughter after she stopped riding English for winter riding. I layered and layered with wool socks and had silk long underwear to put on for really cold days. Some days when it was like -10 and I was out mucking stalls or doing things with the horses outside for a prolonged period of time, I would also wear tights, long underwear, and then breeches or jeans to stay warm. I don't think I recall freezing at all during those days. I also used to spend a lot of nights in some pretty inclement weather volunteering for assisted riding and it was always wet. Making sure they are waterproof matters. I thought about getting moutain horse boots becuase one of the women who I did stall mucking for had them but she said they were hard to actually ride in. And, for the money, my hand-me-downs and layers worked.
