I actually don't mind the Dafna winter boots. Most winters, I'm still riding outside at -25C. Much colder than that and I'd risk my horse getting chilled I think, but I will go out and condition at -25C.

The Dafna boots aren't warm enough to do chores/walking around in...but for quick feeding and getting tacked up, they are warm enough. They look a little bulky, but are fairly soft/forgiving, and there isn't much unnecessary material. I find them significantly less in-the-way than the Mountain Horse boots. They're not going to hold your leg in the same position as a proper tall boot, but there are some compromises to be made when you live in a less temperate climate. I don't have trouble getting my leg on the horse properly in these boots, and the foot is less bulky than the Mountain Horse boots. I can't get my regular spurs on these boots, but I have a rubber-ended pair that I use with them. I pair these boots with insulated tights and a good merino wool snowboarding/ski sock, and I stay warm without seriously damaging by communication. I have a good toque for riding too, again it's a snowboarding type..the top of the head is mesh, and it's fleece over the ears/forehead. Fits neatly under my helmet.

Riding in regular boots, even with the heaviest of socks, is just not an option in my part of the world at those temperatures.
