I couldn't find it last night, but one of the other talk channels does OLD radio shows like Inner Sanctum Mysteries and comedy hour shows and stuff- there was a really great ISM called "The Mark of Cain" last week that gave me chills while I was listening to it. Those old radio actors knew their stuff- the inflections and effects drew you into the story and made your blood run cold. NPR does Prairie Home Companion, which just feels like hanging out with my mom's side of the family.

NPR opened a discussion with my 10yo that has been running all week about the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls. He asks me every day if they've found anything new, and is actually a bit upset about the lack of progress or apparent government concern about these girls- which is pretty impressive, considering that he's the one who has a hard time with empathy or concern for people outside of his circle. We've also been talking about what's going on in the Ukraine, and he's fascinated with the WHY someone would want to go back to something similar to the USSR- which he knew nothing about until this subject came up.

My AM channels are really weak and scratchy- I've been considering seeing about getting some sort of signal booster to attach to the regular antennae to see if I can get some better reception and maybe more channels- right now I can get God Talk, All Balls All The Time (sports) and Right Wing Nutters. Occasionally I can get Left Wing Nutters, but not too often, and they tend to be staticky.
