I was in marching band and there were things that had to be paid for but it was nothing like this. It was a while ago but I believe band camp ran M-F 8AM-3PM. The drum section met a lot on Saturdays, but there was never a bunch of switching things around. That's very poor management, especially if someone's grade is at stake.

It sure sounds like they're milking money out of you guys. My parents paid for things, but not like this. When food was provided, it was provided free, but usually we just brought our own food/drinks, or money to get stuff at games and competitions. My parents didn't spend much on transportation because I could walk, or hitch a ride with a friend, and anyway we were bussed everywhere. They did have to pay to get into football games, but it was cheap, and probably they paid to get into comps, too. They did have to pay for the uniform and dry-cleaning. I assume that the guard probably had to pay for use of the equipment. They paid for the ONE t-shirt that we got that had our show name and some design on it, and they paid to send me on the yearly band trips out to wherever.
