I could tell so many stories! I have lived in quite a few houses of various ages from Tudor to new build. I definitely agree some houses are just bad. I've lived in two bad houses, once as a child and once as an adult. Only little things tended to happen in the one I lived in as a kid, like things would fly off shelves and once I came home from school, walked in and heard an animated conversation between a man and woman, thinking it was my mother and our lodger I walked into the room it had been coming from and it was deserted, there was no one about, no radio or TV on in the house. I had very bad dreams there and was often woken by loud noises in my ear.
The second one was worse, there was one particular room that was bad, the bedroom at the back. Both my son and my ex saw a woman standing looking down out of the window into the garden when they were outside, she was wearing a black dress and a white apron with shoulder straps and had an evil look on her face. My daughter had to sleep in the room when she was too old to sleep in with my son, she would sleep with the door open and her bed as close to the door as she could, she would always be in my bed by morning, it was six months after we moved to a new house that she stopped screaming at night. She said the curtains would blow violently into the room even if the window was shut and various other things. Once my children were upstairs playing and heard a loud vicious growl, they ran down screaming but I didn't hear anything that they could have mistaken. I was once in my bedroom and heard something loud and rustly brush past the door on the other side, like full long skirts might sound. I often had violent disturbing dreams in that house.
The house was mixed age but on a site right by Glastonbury Abbey that had been built on at least since Medieval times, it was very close the site of the first Christian Church in the UK and there was a Roman village in the area before that and druids before that so who knows what could have gone on there over the years.
I have lived in other houses that have had spirits but nothing nasty or obvious. My current house is not terribly old- about 150 years and has a nice atmosphere that I felt as soon as I saw it. I can usually tell how haunted a house is by how scared I am going downstairs in the dark, here I am not.
I have a vast list of family ghost stories I can write too.
