I believe in ghosts and ghost horses...

When I was younger there was a tree, big oak tree at an intersection. The tree was estimated to be over 300 years old. Rumors were that civil war soldiers would sleep there and that they haunted it. The way my mom tells it is that when we were on the way back into town from a weekend trip, I woke up as we drove by and asked her "mom why are there funny dressed men under the tree?" she looked, no one there. To this day, I still dream about men under that tree. It was hit by lightning about 3? years ago. Now there are many accidents in that corner. Oldtimers say that the civil war soldiers are mad. Last year, they built a strip mall on the grounds. The mall has caught on fire, been struck by lighting, failed inspections, a wall fell down... gas pumps don't work, power is always going out....

My second story is about my farm 100 or so years ago, there was a carriage path that ran through the edge of my property. We find horse shoes, carriage hubs, things like that. Also, my house is built where a brick factory was and large drafts were used to haul clay to the factory. When my dad was building the house, he dug up a large horse skeleton with shoes, and reburied it under a big oak tree. For years, even before we built the barn, my dad and me would hear a horse running in the back yard. My mom thought we were nuts. Until the horses came to the family farm. One night, the horses were in, the gates shut, barn closed for the night and she heard a horse galloping around. Said that when she looked outside, you could see sparks like when shoes hit rocks real hard? She did the only thing she knew how. She went to the barn and opened the door. She said about 3 minutes later, the horse stopped running, and she shut the door

I still hear him running, even though my parents don't live here anymore, just me. And if it's really cold at night, I will leave the door open for about 30 minutes longer then I normally do, then go back up and shut it. If I don't, I hear him running. Guess my ghost horse just wants a warm barn for hte night?
