I loop it with hay string to the top rail. With the long rope they can run backwards as fast as they can and not move the panel as long as it is on it's weakest setting (my panels are heavy, stud panels). This is important to deal with the panic that comes from claustrophobia.

I'll add that I assume that everyone who gets a new horse starts from the beginning with ground work to make sure there are no holes in the training. Just because I do. Assuming a horse is safe on the ground- even moderately can be extremely dangerous to a person's well being.

I don't think this mare is an idiot savant. I think she very quickly gets everyone's number and likes playing the "I can get free and run around anytime I want" game. It's probably worked very well with every human she's met and until she meets her match and can't get away with it, she'll see no reason to change her tactics.
