Like appybutt said, just get used to it and make adjustments. My mom has a little QH who is the master cribber of all cribbers. He can get any collar off. Even tried a muzzle and he cribbed right through it and broke it. Other then this habit, he is a nice little horse. We took everything out of his stall he can crib on...he eats off a pan on the floor and has a muck bucket for water. He has a different kind of gate that goes floor to ceiling. We took care of any edge we could find in his stall and it really did help. He is out most of the time and will still try to crib on fences, etc., but oh well. We have treated for ulcers, had him turned out 24/7, tried the Quitt chewing stuff, nothing works. We just live with it and eliminate stuff he can break. Once we just dealt with it, it doesn't bother us anymore. There is also a new Rusty Dare cribbing collar that helps slow him down outside and is easier to take on and off. This horse holds weight fine and never colics, but really has no front teeth left:( It is just something either you can live with or you can't.

Now, I have another gelding that I saw start to do it on a feed bucket about 10 years ago and put a miracle collar on him and it stopped. He doesn't even really where it all of the time and his teeth show no signs of wear. So that one is nothing to deal with at all. I actually forgot about him trying it.
