Somebody gave me an 18 year old TB who was a retired hunter. The horse was "sound" as in no limping, but he kind of dragged his back end around. You could see two trails in the dirt where he walked. I started him on some supplement, I don't recall the brand and don't feel like putting on all those clothes to go out in the snow to the barn to check. The supplement had glucosamine and condroitin sulfate.

After a few weeks, the old guy didn't act or look like an old guy anymore. He was living with a weanling colt who had really annoyed him, then they started playing tag and running around constantly. His muscle tone improved exponentially and he even started bucking when out on trail rides. After a couple of months I let him start jumping little stuff again. He was a lot of fun to ride.

He wasn't thin when I first got him. I don't grain horses usually, so he wasn't high on corn or anything.
