I was talking more about the fact, that you are constantly telling people who want to dabble just in hunter/jumper schooling shows, that they NEED or MUST have the best of everything. And not everyone lives where you live image Here, it is quite common to see show bows at schooling shows. There were 4 or 5 girls with them at the show I went to last weekend, and all three consistantly placed in the top 6. Some people find them convient and time saving, and that matters more at a schooling show than some big A circuit show where the rider just has to make themself look good, and have a groom to worry about their horse.

The judge really doesn't care what the riders are wearing, it's just the snotty little brats .

Around here, if you laughed at someone for not wearing the 'right' thing, you'd be the one looking like a fool.

Where have I ever suggested such a thing? I've suggested colors for jackets and shirts, and when asked about brands I've mentioned the ones I like. The only brand I've really advocated for is Tailored Sportsman, and that's because they fit the best, and wear like iron. There's a pair circulating my barn STILL from when my trainer was in bows and garters! And if you look hard enough you can find TS for cheap.

It doesn't matter where you live, show bows were not made for the hunter ring, they are not hunter appropriate attire. And hairnets take about 2 minutes once you learn how to do hunter hair, not really a big waste of time. And the judge DOES care that what the riders and horses are wearing, judges CAN and DO take off if equipment is not traditional/appropriate, show bows, running martingales, and the like are not.

As for the laughing, have I mentioned that I speak in hyperboles?

"If riding were only blue ribbons and bright lights, I would have quit a long time ago"~ George Morris

"Virginia has the nicest horses"~ George Morris

"Riding is first a sport, then an Art. That's why I make a lot of money"~George Morris
