Wow, that is strict. Sorry HP, you're analogy wasn't much help to me...never been to a conservative church lol. But I get the idea.

Hacking turnout classes are minute in the details, to the point that one must have a hankie in the jacket pocket. But that is turnout classes, not your 'normal' classes where obviously there is the current fashion but not so strict.

The lady I have lessons with always braids her horses tale for show hunter hack classes because she considers it more traditional, but there are still lots of horses that compete with shaved tails.

Never heard of being marked down for mane presentation in dressage too.

Hopefully the local lower levels for the OP aren't so tight on the rules and she'll be able to have fun with her horse the way the horse is.
