Wow. I didn't expect this to be such an issue!

It's ok, hunter people, I'll just go eventing with Baxtersmom:)

While I seem to be igniting discussion...

My mare also rubs her tail. She's regularly de-wormed, I clean her udders, and the tail itself isn't flaky or red, I suppose it's just itchy. I brush it out and scrub with iodine when I can; what's the best way to make it look presentable?

Also, she has a big scar on her hind leg. She's not lame on it, but it's noticable. What are your all thoughts on it?

(This all being said, my current trainer is also a judge and said she wouldn't mark down, as it's obviously from an accident and not interfering, and she's not lame on it in the slightest. Then again, she's one of many, so there we go! What does the all-knowing internets say? Also, I'm definitely getting a vet check before we do any serious hard work, due to her scar and that she was a little sore twice last week.)
