We always kinda made fun of the hunters. The strict code was also hard for us to follow, especially since it's based on an opinion and not a time clock or penalty faults. I heard appaloosas and loudly colored horses were harder to compete in those shows and the bays and blacks were more likely to win. I've never compete in hunters myself, I'm more of a jumper, XC person and I really can't find the purpose in this years newest riding style.
The color of someone's horse...and the mane thats under such controversy...seems a little unfair to me. You can't change a fjords mane. You can't braid an appy's mane if it's a mohawk. But they should still have a fair enough chance as everyone else, especially if they look clean and they're represented nicely. I know some areas still put those breeds into the ground during a hunter show, but I think the better part of the nation is getting a little bit more reasonable with it.
I don't mind a roached mane. I think they look clean and neat.
