Swinghorse, thank you! you said exactly what im always thinking in regards to friesians especially in referance to the recessive genes!!!! the much desired "hair" does not pass down in a cross. its pretty sad when someone boasts about their fab-FRIESIAN(gotta say it loud)-cross but must shave the legs and pull the main to avoid the "five oclock shadow". unless its crossed with a heavy feathered/haired breed the horse ends up with shabby main and really sloppy looking feathers, if any. its hard to get people to understand that a friesian cross will NOT get a cheaper version because most crosses DO NOT look like a friesian and do not have the trademark look and rarely even pass on the carriage horse movement.
