Horses are actually pretty varied in what they will and won't eat. For the first month or two I had him, Scout would only nibble at about half his feed- then leave the rest and go eat dewberries out in the pasture. I think it was the change- he had been getting racehorse oats mixed with a high molasses content sweet feed at his original owner's home, and mine is a 12% sweet mix (all grain) with a variable molasses content- usually pretty light in the summer because of our humidity- it spoils fast in the heat and damp.
