Tempi, those points on the website are all great that you posted. It would be an awesome resource for people just getting into the breed.

However, that is as far as it would extend to. The people who do their research in the breed DON'T have inbreeding or health problems, just like with any breed. My dad has been involved with the breed since before I was born and we have never ONCE had a genetic defect or extreme inbreeding problem. If you want a more "warmbloody" type friesian, breed to a stallion like Goffert, if you want baroque, they have those too.

Being a member of the KFPS or FHANA MEANS utilizing the tools they offer. Being a member, you have access to inbreeding coefficients. All you have to do in ensure it is less than 5%. It really isn't that hard to sway away from these issues.

As I stated in my long epic dialouge... of course the friesian has skills and faults that other horses such as warmbloods have the upper hand on... however, I am breeding for the friesian itself... if I want a horse that looks more streamline and moves like a warmblood... then well, I'll just BUY a warmblood. lol
