Thanks KOTJ.

I know this wasn't the best topic to bring up my problem with HP in, but yesterday was a less than great day for me and what she said made me snap and voice my opinion on how she's been giving hers lately. Actually, up until a couple weeks ago, I'd really respected what HP had to say on the hunter topic. I thought she had alot of good knowledge to share.

Thanks xponies, I try.

Then, came a thread from someone asking what show clothes they need for hunters, on the local/school level or something. HP instantly imformed them they needed thee top brands. In my post above, I'd said jackets can be navy, black, and you see the odd beige and grey ones now, and could have pinstripes or be plain. I also mentioned that I myself rode in a black jacket because I think it compliments my horse better than a navy one. HP was quick to point out that black is out of fashion and she must go with navy. Maybe on her A circuit it is, but it's still half and half around here with a handful of people brave enough to wear the beige or grey jackets.
Huh. So this whole thing is a complete missunderstanding! Let me explain. First off, the OP of that disscussion asked for brands, I mentioned some of the top brands, not really thinking about it. I think I said something along the lines of "The top brands are..." (the extra 'e' was from a virus that's been attacking my computer), one sentence off the top of my head because she asked. I also said she should get a navy jacket specifically because she was going to do IHSA, which is equitation, and while a plain black jacket is technically correct attire for eq, it just isn't seen. Biege and grey are not correct attire for eq, and pinstripes are frowned upon, although very, very subtle ones could be okay. In HUNTER classes I would definitly recommend grey, it's actually my favorite jacket color, and while I'm not a fan of black or beige, I certainly wouldn't tell someone NOT to wear them, they are perfectly fine colors for hunters. It really had nothing to do with what's fashionable on the A circuit at all, I was simply saying what was appropriate for equitation (navy and black with white or blue shirts), and what my friends have said about IHSA (navy, with white or blue).

I hate how she naturally assumes everyone, who clearly states they're just doing schooling shows is a)actually doing A circuit, b)in her area and c)super rich. It makes people feel bad to constantly see her telling people to buy the best of the best, when they know they could never afford it.
I don't assume anything, however I do say things that have to do with "my area", mostly because that's what I have experience in. I state my opinion, I never tell people to buy "the best of the best".

I've started to notice she does that alot now, or makes everything she says sound so final, like in the HORSE hairstyles for showing thread, when she said that braids are a requirement, for someone who simply wanted to do a schooling show here and there.
I was always taught that braids are a requirement, UNLESS the schooling show specifies that they are not. I happen to have a very nice schooling circuit in my area, and they DO specify no braids, however, the question in that thread was if roaching is appropriate, and I believe it is not.

So although I shouldn't have brought it up on here, I am glad I did. I know that I feel feel better having gotten things off my chest about it all.
Yes, I really would have appreciated a PM instead of this thread.
