Thanks alot Horseandhounds. I will be looking into Evitex as well. I am not a member of that group.
One day when you have some time, I would really like to pick your brain about a few things LOL. My bunch is doing very well, there are a few issues with my sons mare and flexibilty.
I can take most horses and train for what I need from them, I am just not sure how to deal with her being so stiff on turning. What I have tried has helped some. I have her working barrels at a walk, and just basic bending work. I do not longe line my horses, would rather walk them and me for miles if needed, than spend 5 minutes on longe work. We will be starting her this week on some hill work, and more of the bending around barrels and poles and over poles. We are not in a big hurry with any of her work, we have no set things we have to do this summer except get her comfy while working. She is such a willing gal for my son, and is so nice to ride, I will not take a chance on hurting her and making her sour, so we are just taking everything slow with her.
Streetmutt - she is being handled by a 14 year old boy that has some experience but not a lot, I don't think popping her is the option at this time. She is amazing for him except in heats. She is his horse, and while I am there to offer advice if someting is wrong, I will not take over from him. They have made much progress and I will not take that away from him. I will look into any other options available. I stress at all times to handle them quietly and without fireworks, and except in her cycles it works very well. I have a calm, non scared kid and a calm horse, that tries so hard to please him. She doesn't spook or act crazy or bitchy at any other time.
