The Trail Safety Coordinator asked his fiance to guide him in backing the trailer and he ran he over- it just makes one wonder how on earth this accident ever happened! What a bizzarre, tragic thing. Luckily, you don't hear of this very often. What an awful way to die.

Whenever I'm backing- whether it's a horse trailer or my little Geo, I don't move an inch until I can see everyone in my mirrors- including animals that I know to be roaming about. As soon as someone disappears from view in the mirror, I hit the brakes and wait. My partner knows that if she can't see my face in the mirrors when she's guiding me back, I won't move. B/c if she can't see my face - that means I can't see her.

You'd think a trail safety guide would have some similar kind of personal code/training.

I guess that sounds critical.
