Just wait for your surgical followups. My (permanent) knee injury gave me quite the round of self-pity, but spending a month in a wheelchair and 40 minutes every other week in an orthopedist's waiting room changed my life. I'm not being dramatic either, it seriously did. There is nothing like sitting there, chatting with 10 other people who will be crippled for the rest of their lives to give your own life perspective.
