Wow, I am so sorry that you are going through all this alone.
I can remember being 18 with no family and having a horrible fight with by BF of 5 years. He was the only thing I had in the world and he became violent with me. After he left my apartment, I remember sitting on the floor, arms around my knee rocking and crying. I had no one. I had nothing, I worked for his dad, and I couldn't go back there after that. I was truly alone in the world. It was at that moment I became my own best friend.
I realized then that the rest of the world will kick you if they can, and you are the only one you can ever truly count on. I told myself all the things I would tell a friend. I told myself- "you're gonna be alright" "you can get through this" etc. I got through that, and much more, all because I support myself. I am my biggest advocate, then, now and always.
Many people think its sad that I feel that way (you can only really count on yourself), but it has saved my life on more than one occasion.
You came into this world alone, and you will leave it alone. You can get through anything alone, and will be a stronger person for it. Besides, you have the interwebz. They didn't have no interwebz when I was 18. Al Gore was still in college I think.
ETA: I hope you can find comfort in knowing that your pup was truly truly blessed for having been in your life.
