So, last week my work hired my nutjob abusive ex last week (I think I mentioned it in the big thread already) and they refuse to get rid of him because "he seems nice enough." Yeah, nevermind that I'm a terrified, trembling wreck whenever he's around. So I have to quit the best job I've ever had, because I cannot work with him. And really, even if they got rid of him I would still be scared, because if he knows where I work he can find me/follow me home/attack me in an alley at 2am when I'm getting off work, etc. So I have to quit. And I'm devastated about it.

Also last week, I nearly collapsed at work with stabbing chest pains and difficulty breathing. On the plus side, it wasn't anything really serious (just muscular inflammation and a small blood clot that will go away on its own) so I'm not like dying or anything, but I spent a night at the ER, and I had to go to the doctor the next day for bloodwork etc. Unfortunately, this meant that I missed the one time (I didn't know that this was THE ONE time) that I could finish my final project for one of my classes - a video interview with one of my classmates. So unless I can magically find someone else to do it with me by, oh, 9am tomorrow morning, (not gonna happen) I'm going to fail that class. I also just got an email from one of my teachers telling me that because I didn't format my references properly, I'm getting a zero on my huge final paper in another class - it's assumed to be plagurized.

So I don't know what I'm going to do. There's no way I can make up all of this work this week, especially with all the stress I've been under, and the fact that I still can't breathe or move properly. That, combined with the fact that I'm not going to be able to pay for next term without taking out some serious loans, makes it pretty much a given that I am going to drop out of school now.

So yeah. That's my story. Help, someone?
1. Not sure how Canadian law works, but is there something tantamount to a restraining order that you can get against him? I think in the US it would mean that he's not allowed to work with you, and since you've been there much longer, he'd have to quit. At any rate - good news about the new job - sounds promising and I hope you love it more than the old place

2. Holy crap I am so glad you're ok Do they have you on any blood thinners? That's scary stuff. Hopefully you aren't on BC + smoking because that is the evil bloodclot combo. Be careful and take care of yourself!

3. Will your prof (for video interview class) not understand that medical problems prevented you from completing that project? Won't a note from the ER and/or your Dr. suffice to get you an extension? Also LAME on the "assumed plagiarism". WTF. Can't you just meet with that prof and clarify what you did wrong? Seems like a small misunderstanding and that if you reformat your citations, you should be fine. Doesn't sound like something that would take more than a few hours or so to repair. Even if you don't like your program, you're far better off completing the classes with a low grade than a failing one - if you stay at the same institution and choose a different program, those failing grades will still follow you and bite you in the bum!

4. Do NOT drop out! Oh my goodness.....I know loans suck and stuff but so few people who drop out ever go back. You've gotta finish, no matter what it takes!

Good luck McFly - I'm pullin for ya
