I assume that you are asking for us to critique your hunt seat equitation, even though you are using a western saddle. First off, alot of people mix and match E and W tack when training, a western saddle might be more secure for a beginning or on a green horse. But, if you are seriously trying to improve you English equitation, a western saddle makes it very difficult. The sturrips are placed differently making it about impossible to sit correctly for hunt seat. And the horn gets in your way of keeping your hands low and in the correct position. If you practice wrong, pretty soon, wrong feels right. The horse you are riding would make anyone look bad. With her lack of giving to the bit, she has ewed her neck, hollowed her back, and has her hind legs trailing out behind her - making for a ruff, stilted ride for both you and her. The more you bounce on her hollowed back, the worse she travels and the worse it makes you look. As you know, your barrel type saddle is not a good fit. It looks like it is tilting you forward too. Your lower leg is in more of a western/dressage position than a hunt seat one. Just shortening the sturrips is not going to fix your wrong leg position. At the canter, your leg has slipped forward up by her shoulder - again making for a stiff stilted ride. The photos are dark and it's really hard to see exactly what your hands and feet are doing. Overall, I say lean back more, but your seat more, and get back into a hunt seat saddle so you can learn to ride in the correct leg position.
